Favourite Outdoor Locations in Sierra Vista

There are some amazingly gorgeous places to visit here in Sierra Vista--even some of the local parks are wonderful, especially for photos of children! Being a natural light photographer, I work a lot outdoors and have visited quite a few places (I don't have many recent photos though, unfortunately). I'll give you the details on some of my favourite places:

The San Pedro House

The San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area, on E Hwy 90, has some of the most beautiful views of the mountains, open fields, and a lovely giant tree that is fun to climb on. This location really doesn't have a downside because it is open, it is beautiful, and it is natural. Following are personal photos taken at the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area. 

The San Pedro at the Charleston Bridge

The Charleston Bridge, off of Charleston Road, is a great place for outdoorsy people because it does require a bit of hiking to get to the truly perfect spots, but the bridge and just down the slope at the river are great for families and kids, seniors, and couples!

The Carr House Ruins (Carr Canyon)

Carr Canyon, located off of Hwy 92, is such an amazing area to have a session in--there is so much going on, great areas for posed photos, and wonderful ways to engage the environment, even for children! Definitely one of my favourite places to hold a session, I love the feeling of the mountains and the forest. The Ruins are perfect for pretty much any session, but best for Engagement, Senior, and personal Portrait sessions. 

Veteran's Memorial Park

Choosing a park location for your session is definitely doable, and sometimes the best option! Especially if you have children who love to run, or don't want to travel too far from home (both of the previous places are between 15 and 30 minutes away from town). Veteran's Memorial Park has always been my default location for sessions--everyone knows where it is, it is open, and the park is a great place to get fun photos of your children playing! I have had some amazing sessions at this park, and the mini sessions I will be doing on December 3rd and 4th this year will be at this park. 

Other Local Parks

I've also work at Len Robert's Park, and at the city park in Huachuca City. Both of these places are just as awesome as Veteran's Memorial Park. 

Your Own Backyard

One place that people forget about are back and front yards. There are a lot of options at home, not only saving on gas, but comfortability! Lifestyle portraits are something I love doing, and they aren't just for Boudoir and Newborn sessions!
